Nathan T. Carr, professor of modern languages and literatures, is taking part in a 17-day English Language Specialist Program in Indonesia. The program is part of a U.S. Department of State public diplomacy initiative that sends “experts in the field of English language education to lead intensive English language teacher training projects overseas.”
Carr will be giving a workshop on “Assessing Speaking” and a plenary talk on “Improving Authenticity and Validity in Teaching and Assessment” at the Third Annual Conference of the Asian Association for Language Assessment at Saur, Bail. Afterwards, Carr will facilitate workshops on assessment at several universities throughout the region, as well as the Center for Development and Empowerment of Language Teachers and Education Personnel.
